II. What your personal data is used for. What is the legal basis for processing personal data? 

When you register and, where applicable, participate in the AB Data Challenge if your institution/company is selected, AIGÜES DE BARCELONA will use your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To manage your participation in the AB Data Challenge. In order to participate in the AB Data Challenge, you must complete an application form and accept the Terms and Conditions of Participation, so that your institution’s/company’s application reaches the organizer. By completing it, you agree to receive, at the email address provided in the form, a confirmation of participation, as well as notification of whether your institution/company has been selected or not. The legal basis for processing your data for this purpose is the performance of a contractual relationship, upon accepting the legal terms governing participation.
  • In the event that your institution/company is selected as a finalist of the AB Data Challenge, to manage participation in the Pitch Day: The selection of the winning proposal of the AB Data Challenge will take place online during the Pitch Day event, where finalist proposals will be presented and evaluated by the jury. Communications related to your participation in the AB Data Challenge will be conducted via email. The legal basis for processing your data for this purpose is the performance of a contractual relationship, upon accepting the legal terms governing participation.

Please note that during online activities of the AB Data Challenge, the use of a camera is voluntary. If activated, using a virtual background or wallpaper is recommended to protect your privacy as much as possible. Furthermore, sessions will not be recorded; if, exceptionally, recording becomes necessary, attendees will be informed in advance. This allows you to turn off your camera if you wish or use a background image to preserve your privacy.

In the event that the personal data provided belongs to a third party, the person providing it guarantees that they have informed said third party of this privacy policy and obtained their authorization to provide their data to AIGÜES DE BARCELONA for the specified purposes. Likewise, they guarantee that the data provided is accurate and up to date, and accept responsibility for any direct or indirect damage or loss that may result from a failure to comply with this obligation.

III. For how long will we retain your data?

If you register and, where applicable, participate in the AB Data Challenge if your institution/company is selected, AIGÜES DE BARCELONA will retain your data until the completion of the competition. Once the AB Data Challenge has concluded, we will keep your data duly blocked for an additional period during which liabilities arising from the execution of the AB Data Challenge could emerge. When these potential liabilities expire, your personal data will be permanently deleted.

IV. What security measures have been implemented to protect your personal data?

AIGÜES DE BARCELONA will process personal data with strict confidentiality. Furthermore, it has implemented appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure its security and prevent its destruction, loss, unlawful access, or unlawful alteration. When determining these measures, criteria such as the scope, context, and purposes of processing, the state of the art, and existing risks have been taken into account.

AIGÜES DE BARCELONA hires service providers to assist in executing various tasks related to processing your personal data, such as information storage.
