Finalist projects
Explorers - UPF
1st place
The winning team has developed a predictive model of water consumption as a tool to support management and decision-making regarding water resources. Its goal is to prevent environmental impacts and energy consumption associated with, for example, the use of desalination plants during drought situations. The developed model achieves a global error of less than 5% in predicting domestic, commercial, and industrial consumption, taking into account over 1,000 variables and interrelating climatic, socioeconomic, and geographical data.

INFINI - UPF, UPC, UOC
2nd place
Within the framework of the second finalist project, a predictive model is developed to address the potential social and economic impact that a future event—especially large-scale—in the city of Barcelona and its metropolitan area may generate. The model aims to establish a knowledge base that helps find solutions to balance the benefits and costs of these events.
UW+ - CREDA, CIPSA
3rd place
With an impact on tourism and improving water consumption efficiency, the third finalist project focuses on generating solutions that guide Barcelona towards more sustainable tourism. In this way, a predictive model of tourist consumption is developed, accompanied by complementary initiatives aimed at promoting awareness and efficient, responsible water usage, while highlighting the resulting impacts on society and the environment.
